DISTILLATION

What is distillation?

One definition of distillation that resonates with EIE most is: the extraction of the essential meaning or most important aspects of something. This feels most appropriate for explaining the distillation of plant material to extract essential oil and hydrosol. Here at Emerald Isle Essentials, plant material is ethically harvested and added to water in a copper still.

What is an essential oil?

Essential oils are not made, but instead, they are extracted from plant materials. ******

Emerald Isle Essentials currently offers wildcrafted Sitka Spruce essential oil, and uses only small batch, ethically harvested essential oils in our products.

What is a hydrosol?

Hydrosols, also known as "floral waters," are produced simultaneously with EO’s during a botanical distillation. The extra cool part? With similar properties to essential oils, these aromatic waters are much less concentrated, which means they are a fantastic healing option for children, pets, and those with sensitive skin or smell sensitivities.

Emerald Isle Essentials offers a variety of wildcrafted hydrosols.
